Introduction

BP encourages fleets to do all they can to become as efficient as possible. Through BP's Fuel Management Solutions, BP customers are able to have detailed, accurate data on everything from fuel usage to carbon emissions and repairs, with data collated and analysed in a way that supports their business every day.

To celebrate the efforts being made by car and van fleets who are proactively striving to reduce their fuel consumption and emissions and highlight best practice, we are pleased to launch the ‘BP Car and Van Fleet Fuel Efficiency Awards’. What’s more, along with this accolade, we’ll also give the winner and one highly commended company the opportunity to send drivers on a revolutionary fuel efficiency driver training course ecolution, courtesy of IAM Commercial.

Judging

BP has pioneered fuel management systems for many years, and through initiatives such as targetneutral, our carbon offsetting programme, we are committed to developing the most energy efficient practices across our business and for our customers. That’s why we are on the look out for organisations and businesses that have introduced initiatives which show a real commitment to fuel efficiency. Judging will recognise fuel efficiency initiatives such as reducing total miles travelled, minimising emissions from vehicles, using technology innovatively, leading by example, or simply taking a series of sound steps that together have made a big difference!

Winner

The overall winner will be named the ‘BP Fuel Efficient Car and Van Fleet 2009’ and be given the opportunity to send up to 40 of their drivers on a revolutionary fuel efficiency driver training course ecolution, courtesy of IAM Commercial ecolution. One highly commended company will also be given the chance to send up to 24 of its drivers on the ecolution course.

Two of the UK’s leading occupational driver training companies, IAM Fleet and Drive & Survive - part of IAM Commercial – have developed ecolution, a driver training course which can improve fuel consumption by up to 25 percent and lead to significant vehicle emission reductions. Ecolution develops driver hazard perception and promotes smart, smooth and safe driving techniques in a real world situation. Results from ecolution trials show that, for an average fleet of around 3,000 drivers, companies could see an average annual fuel bill reduction of more than £300,000, which could also be coupled with significant CO2 savings of up to 3,000 tonnes per annum by practising the ecolution techniques.
